Citizen Diplomacy

I seized this opportunity to explain our system of government and to weigh in on President-elect Trump’s foreign policy by social media. I wrote the post yesterday morning before his “manifest destiny” media conference in the afternoon. Canadians are now being confronted with Trump’s firehose of lies and threats. Trump’s followers are, of course, eating up the lies and the threats. This can no longer be ignored, and Canadian leaders have started to respond. This post represents my version of citizen diplomacy. We Canadians can hope that there will be American politicians, leaders, and citizens who will affirm that Canadian (as well as Panamanian and Greenlandic) sovereignty is inviolable.
